Approach to Road Safety

Safe System

safe system

ASEVIs training and certification incorporates the Safe System approach in every step.

With our strengths in mobilization of finance, PPP and Concessions, we are specialists in Safer Roads.
We are also specialists in Safe Management due to our training and advisory experience building local capacities.

Safer Roads

Design roadway environments to mitigate human mistakes and account for injury tolerances, to encourage safer behaviors, and to facilitate safe travel by the most vulnerable users.

Safer Vehicles

Expand the availability of vehicle systems and features that help to prevent crashes and minimize the impact of crashes on both occupants and non-occupants.

Post-Crash Care

Enhance the survivability of crashes through expedient access to emergency medical care, while creating a safe working environment for vital first responders and preventing secondary crashes through robust traffic incident management practices.

Safer Management

Improve and develop capacities to provide the proper Safety Management Systems, learning, organizational structures, regulation, data systems, etc. to facilitate local progress, monitoring, implementation, resolution and improvement of Road Safety Systems.

Safer Speeds

Promote safer speeds in all roadway environments through a combination of thoughtful, equitable, context-appropriate roadway design, appropriate speed-limit setting, targeted education, outreach campaigns, and enforcement.

Safer People

Encourage safe, responsible driving and behavior by people who use our roads and create conditions that prioritize their ability to reach their destination unharmed.

Approach to Road Safety

EU RISM - Managing road safety infrastructure

ASEVI fosters the implementation of guidelines such as EU´s RISM (Road Infrastructure Safety Management guideline), as a logical framework to establish a systems and regulate road safety audits and inspections.

Improving regulations and guidelines to require RSAs + proper quality control of road safety audits + formal auditors’ training and professional certification = saving lives.

rism
  • RSIA:       Road Safety Impact Assessment
  • RSA:        Road Safety Audit
  • NWRSA: Network-wide Road Safety Assessments
  • PRSI:       Periodic Road Safety Inspections
  • FRSI:       Focused Road Safety Inspections

Implementing regulations such as RISM, and adding standards for auditor certification and proper tool usage can indeed have a significant impact in improvement in Safer Roads performance.

Learn more about the RISM and how ASEVI can help in local regulation and implementation of guidelines and how our training and certification services help prepare local capacities for RS Audits and Inspections.
